Maga

A maga is a female wizard of the Order of Hermes. The male equivalent is a magus.

The plural of "maga" is magae. By convention, a group of wizards of unknown or mixed gender is called by the masculine plural, magi.

Medieval attitudes toward gender notwithstanding, magae are full equals of their male peers in Mythic Europe.
