Note that while the frosty breath is a cosmetic effect, it nevertheless can be affected by magic to thwart this standard Quaesitorial spell. Some investigative magi may invent variants of this spell that reveal lying through other cosmetic effects, however, perhaps reflecting their Wizard's Sigil. --Yair

Even non-magical environmental factors can affect the utility of the spell. For instance, magi in the Greater Alps Tribunal make use of a version of this spell that makes a bell chiming sound rather than misty breath, as, in many areas of the tribunal, a person's breath will naturally frost outside thus making the visual signal of the original spell useless.
