Mercere is one of the Founders of the Order of Hermes. A small line of Gifted Mercere magi continue his bloodline and True Lineage, while a much larger network of unGifted Redcaps maintain the tradition of loyal service by carrying messages and performing other non-magical work to the Order by carrying messages and performing other non-magical work than he had started.
Mercere only took his two Gifted sons as apprentices, Priamitus, who became a priest of the Cult of Mercury, and Hermes Triceres, also known as Mutant, who founded the Mutantes line.
