An invested device[1] is a type of enchanted item created in a laboratory by a magus. Invested devices are difficult and costly to create, but can be among the most powerful enchanted items a magus can create.
Properties of an invested device
- An invested device costs vis to create.
- Invested devices must be opened for enchantment before enchantment takes place[2].
- Several magical effects may be instilled into the item. The amount and magnitude of magical effects instilled is limited by the vis used to open the item for enchantment.
- Instilling the magical effetc(s) can be spread out over several seasons.
- An invested device can be made into a talisman, provided the magus created the invested device himself[3].
