Rune Magic is a tradition of Magic based on the power of Runic Alphabets that is known to have existed but has largely been lost as of the time of Mythic Europe. It is or at least was once mastered by Scandinavian Rune Wizards, the first of which were followers of Odin, as well by the Faerie beings called Dvergar.[1]
In Arm5, its practiccioners are often called Vitkir (singular Vitki). If the Order of Odin truly exists, it can be expected to have knowledge of Rune Magic as well.
At least two systems of Rune Magic were published in ArM5; one in Hedge Magic Revised Edition[2] and the other in Ancient Magic.[1]
Rune Magic in Hedge Magic Revised Edition
This Sourcebook dedicates a whole chapter to the Vitkir, with rules for creating Vitkir player characters and new, appropriate Virtues.
Previous Editions
In Fourth Edition, the Vitki and Rune Magic were detailed in Ultima Thule.[3]. Some references to the Vitki (and to Seithr) are also found in Land of Fire and Ice, the Mythic Iceland Sourcebook.
