One of the Founders of the Order of Hermes, and the progenitor of House Verditius, reputedly the greatest magical crafter of his time (and, possibly, ever). Amongst the many legendary items he created were five rings that he crafted. They are a part of the symbol of his House.
Publication history
As originally presented in the 1989 Order of Hermes, Verditius' understanding of creating enchanted devices was considered too "philosophical" by Bonisagus. The impression presented was that Bonisagus was too limited in his viewpoint to incorporate the full extent of Veriditius' abilities into his Hermetic Theory. This presentation was continued in Houses of Hermes.
In addition to providing great detail on the Verditius' life before and after the foundation of the Order, Houses of Hermes: Mystery Cults also changed the interplay between the nature of the collaboration between Bonisagus and Verditius. The canonical history is now that Verditius refused to divulge all or most of his secrets. In addition to presenting a different character in general, this also provided another active proponent to the prohibition to scrying in the Oath of Hermes.
