:I noticed you hardcoded a level 4 title in the template, which may or may not work everywhere the template might be used.  I'd suggest putting a <nowiki><span id="{{{1}}}"></nowiki> at the beginning of the first like and a <nowiki></span></nowiki> at the end, and then it can be linked to.  Putting however many <nowiki>=</nowiki> really does need to be in the document.  I did this in the spell template, and linked from the spellindex template.

Formula template

User:NeilNjae and User:Audrey_Azura thanks for {{Template:Formula template}}! I think standard templates are incredibly useful.

I don't think we should focus on recreating the printed book layout so much. I've tried a few different things in Spells, none seem to really work well. You can see the template and my attempt here Ars_Magica_5E_Standard_Edition,_Chapter_Nine:_Spells#Level_Guidelines for some of the complexities.

My concerns

  1. We don't have the same column constraints as the text, so I think we should not stack the two parts, and have them horizontally next to each other.
  2. I really don't think both parts should be bold, and I'm going to change this so the 2nd part isn't bold.
  3. We need an anchor in the template so the Appendix II entries can link to it.
  4. It's probably too soon to be thinking about text decoration, but being in a template it's easy to change, very cool.

I created a template for Mystery Initiations Template:ArMMysteryInitiation. I took example on the option I thought was the best from User: Mataglap test on spells and formula. Feel free to modify and try new things ^^. --Audrey Azura (talk) 14:04, 18 November 2024 (MST)

I noticed you hardcoded a level 4 title in the template, which may or may not work everywhere the template might be used. I'd suggest putting a <span id="{{{1}}}"> at the beginning of the first like and a </span> at the end, and then it can be linked to. Putting however many = really does need to be in the document. I did this in the spell template, and linked from the spellindex template.

Navboxes

I've asked the admins about other Mediawiki extensions and modules, and they responded that they are looking at Navbox and its dependencies. In the meantime, what are everyone's thoughts about {{ArMOLsimplenav}}? Mataglap (talk) 10:15, 9 November 2024 (MST) The admins have installed a bunch of stuff, including Navbox, thank you!

I am not used at all to use Navbox (it is my first time being involved heavily in a wiki project ^^'), so sorry for probably the very basic questions, but I was wondering:
  • Should I use this generic, OL content navbox on all content?
  • Should we make specific navbox for each books?

I think navigation is important especially when transforming "books" to a wiki. There are of course lots of ways to do it, but navboxes are handy for lots of reasons. We should restrain ourselves from doing very much at the visual presentation, because as more content is added, the visual needs will change. But if we just use the utter generic Wikipedia styling for now, I think there is value.
While working on The Contested Isle, I've found them helpful, and what I've been doing can be seen at the top and bottom of any of the Chapter pages, like https://www.redcap.org/page/The_Contested_Isle_Ch_9
I'm sure the pages can be made much better, but I did want to click around while I'm working.

Thanks for the explanation. I'll create similar navboxes for the books I am working on and integrate them in the page, then. I do like being able to navigate to different chapters when working on a book too ^^ (and also to different books, this game has too many references all other the place :p). --Audrey Azura (talk) 18:38, 18 November 2024 (MST)

Sidebars

What should be done about sidebars? So far, I've been able to easily incorporate the sidebars into the main doc for Chapter 9 Spells. Most of the time this has actually been better, since the sidebar content in Ch. 9 can be rather far from its related content. Mataglap (talk) 10:29, 9 November 2024 (MST)

In most cases, I've added them as subsections in the section where they belong. Quite a few of the boxes seem to be there to help with the layout rather than being genuine asides to the main text.
NeilNjae (talk) 06:30, 15 November 2024 (MST)
Agree. That might require a change of level header (i.e., L3 -> L4), since all the sidebars/ boxes/ inserts have been level 3 that I've seen, but hardly a big deal. For The Contested Isle I've been using
{| class=wikitable
|
===Title===
text

text, etc.
|}
which seems to be working out to both honor the published layout and also be as minimal formatting as possible
