The sixteen archai are the magistrates of the Theban Tribunal, described in The Sundered Eagle. Four are appointed by lottery from the polites of each of the Phyle at each Tribunal meeting. The Archai serve on the Judicial Board, the Legislative Board, the Conciliatory Board or the Treasury Council. Headed by the Archon, they appoint the Polemarch and are assisted by the Logothete.
