Arcane connection

An Arcane Connection is an object that is mystically linked to some other person or object through the Law of Contagion. This gives a magus increased power over the second object. For example, possessing a hair from a person's head makes it easier to affect the person with Hermetic Magic.

Uses of an Arcane Connection

The Limit of Arcane Connection states that Hermetic magic cannot affect a target the maga cannot sense, unless she possesses an arcane connection to the target at the time of casting. Thus, magi frequently use arcane connections to affect a target outside their field of vision, including Intellego spells that locate the target.
